A weekend full of Events,
Demos, Talks and Fun!
Across the weekend, all participating studios will be open to visitors, with artists demonstrating their techniques throughout the day. A wide range of artworks will be available for purchase, and artists will be happy to answer questions, share their process, and chat with visitors.
For the few events that run with a fee or donation, this will be clearly noted in the individual event descriptions, with contributions collected directly by the artists on the day.

Pottery Wheel Throwing Demo

Join Di Toi for live pottery wheel throwing demonstrations and experience the magic of clay in motion. Watch as forms take shape on the wheel and learn more about the process behind functional and sculptural ceramic work.
Visitors are welcome to observe, ask questions, and gain insight into the art of wheel throwing. Artworks will be available for purchase.

Join the artists of Te Toi Weiti Collective at Te Herenga Waka o Ōrewa Marae for a special opportunity to engage with carving practices. Visitors are welcome to have a kōrero with the artists and try carving techniques in a guided, hands-on experience.

Join Danica Bahn at Te Herenga Waka o Ōrewa Marae for informal demonstrations of extracting muka and making pōkinikini.
Danica will be sharing aspects of this traditional fibre practice in a relaxed, conversational setting, welcoming visitors who are curious to learn more.

Digital Art Process Demo with Kay Evison

Join Kay Evison as she presents a short video talk and demonstration exploring her digital painting process. In this 8-minute session, Kay will take visitors through the working layers of an artwork currently in progress, offering insight into how her imaginative, steampunk-inspired scenes come together.
As a special touch, Kay has animated part of the artwork’s story, titled “Whiskers in the Works.”
Visitors with an interest in steampunk are warmly invited to attend in costume — Kay herself will be dressed for the occasion.
