Yvonne Gray is a contemporary painter and printmaker based in Ōrewa, whose work explores atmosphere, memory, and the emotional resonance of place. With a practice spanning over twenty years, she creates layered, expressive compositions both large and small using a wide range of tools and techniques. Influenced by New Zealand’s coastlines, skies and native flora, her work can reflect shifting horizons, tidal rhythms, and moments of stillness. She is also drawn to portraying intriguing figures, often using patterns, textures or hints of text to invite deeper reflection.

Yvonne has held three solo exhibitions and was awarded the 2021 Merit Prize for Painting at the Estuary Arts Centre. She was a finalist in the 2023 and 2025 Hibiscus & Bays Art Awards, and her work is represented by The Mandarin Tree Gallery in Gordonton.
