I started painting many years ago, while still in my home country, Chile. Back then, I took many courses and joined artist groups until I got married and came to New Zealand. Being in a new country with a young son; family life, and work took precedence, leaving my art behind for many years.
When I moved to the Hibiscus Coast some 15 years ago, I had just initiated my way back to art. Once here, I continued my artistic training at Hungry Creek Art School, Mairangi Bay Art, the University of Auckland's Summer School, and the Estuary Art Centre.
Since I was very young, I have drawn people’s faces. It has always been my big interest to draw and paint people. I love doing portraits. The big theme of my paintings is people. People dancing has been one of my favourites. However, I also occasionally explore landscapes. Recently I developed an interest in collage.
